When ‘Jonny’ – Jonathan Otto – made his move to Atletico Madrid from Celta de Vigo, it was expected to be a long-term replacement for Juanfran. However, an immediate loan to Wolverhampton Wanderers was put through, and the 24-year-old made the move to England in the summer.
Now, it looks like the deal has gone through – despite never playing a single minute for his parent club in Atletico. With a fee of around £18m put down, this could be a club record – or joint-record – for the Midlands outfit. Impressive performances and consistency down the right flank has been essential for the Spaniard, though, and he’s become a vital part of a Wolves team making a very good impression indeed.
Speaking about the move on the Wolves official website, Jonny said: “I’m very happy to sign for Wolves,
“The last few days we spoke about it and now it’s official. I’ll be Wolves for the next four years. I’m really happy to continue to be involved with this team.
“I am very happy here, the truth is that it was very easy to decide. They are treating me very well, there are great staff, great team mates and great supporters. It is a big club and really, I am very happy to be here.”
For Wolves fans, the signing of such a consistent and reliable player is only likely to help further improve their chances of success, where his concentration and consistency always come into play.
